Black cant system – HEIKE fashion brand concept store
HEIKE, a Chinese fashion concept store is a project by Shanwei Weng and Jiadie Yuan of An Design and a poetic conceptual and spatial experiment to create an innovative example of interior design for an independent fashion brand. The combination of the colours, textures, and forms create a perfect balance between the aesthetics and design.
“Design is writing. Pathway is pragmatic.Let the pathway be part of the space. IT could be poetic. I redesign the dividing pathway so it connects with the whole space. It does not disrupt the space. I create a square in a square tu form a new space layout. Black cant system, Like a poem, its movement brings energy to reshape the space. We call it physical movement of poems. It is a black crossing, through black. A melancholy and futuristic sense of zen.
Division is connection,it’s bold and sloped.Instead of dividing the space into two,I use the slope as division. To create a whole and complete space. To divide but zlso to connect. A black box at the centre of the shop contains a variety of functions. The black box marks the location of a staircase, which leads up through a “wedge-shaped” volume to connect the two floors.” – Shanwei Weng and Jiadie Yuan / AN design
Independent designer brands, HEIKE (black crusts), to clothing sale display, custom based morphology, and bear the role of art, music, exhibition space; Project is located in a furniture store two floor, must be through the middle of the furniture store in the middle of a long and narrow staircase, in order to reach HEIKE, belonging to the shop in the shop; The stairs will HEIKE space open, the space was back to shape. In the space of a primitive concrete pouring structure, a huge black inclined plane block is put into the box, and the box body is connected with the whole staircase.
The crossing of the space between the two levels, the stairway, is simultaneously concealed and enhanced by a sculptural black block. Named the ‘Black Cant’, this large slanted wedge separates by connecting and incorporates the passage from the ground to the first floor. It also includes the container for the fitting room and stock areas.
The dark and invasive volume is inserted by the architects as a ‘text’ on a blank page and serves as a store and a gallery for exhibitions and events.
HEIKE is achieved with geometric, cutting shapes, minimal furnishing and a varied range of materials such as concrete, steel, aluminum and mirrors. Different textures were used to create matt and shiny surfaces, all of them in strictly gray and black shades, eloquent signs of craftsmanship. Other examples is the raw concrete construction, contrasting with the polished floors, the steel window structures, the hangers, the intensely black marble dust finish and the polished metals.
200 square project, 3,5 meters tall, channel 1.3 meters. The black body with marble powder, steel structure, wood board, cement board, marble powder and glue; the arm of the fan like arts and crafts like folding, every piece with 0.5 cm to fold about 20 times, polished and then the Shar Pei; at the bottom of the stairs and accessories area of convex concave geometry stainless steel, polished by Shar Pei; black beveled edge and part of the plates welding scar, direct exposure; project individually configurable aluminum chandeliers, mirror, clothing display rack, stainless steel display stand.
HEIKE is a test of the fashion designer –Laohei .We try to explore possibilities of a independent designer store. In Hangzhou, HEIKE is more than a fashion store. It creates a space for art, music and exhibition. We try to explore a form of space that is independent and free.
AN’s glum interior design for fashion brand Heike hidden in the shadows.Hidden in a furniture store, Heike fashion concept store locates on the second floor. Staircase in the middle of the store leads to a huge black wedge block at the top of it, which is also a collection of various functional spaces: fitting room, storage room, exhibition area, staircases, handrails.
This wedge is made from marble powder, which covers fifty percent of the store area. It retained iron texture and welding traces on the channel and props.
