[highlight1]  Craft System Lights  [/highlight1]

Craft System™ by François Chambard – Brooklyn-based UM Project has launched a modular light series that consists of a common base unit and various attachments to customize the lamp. One form, many variations from familiar designs to more playful and unexpected results. The multiple variations can be used for lamps.

The series, called Craft System™, consists of multiple variations of a single Corian® form by attaching various tops and bottoms – yielding familiar designs and more playful and unexpected results. The multiple variations can be used for lamps and other unique objects including a terrarium, a Theremin, and potentially many others.

Craft System™ was presented during New York Design Week 2012. UM Project’s style is often described as playful yet serious and the new project has provided a way to express that spirit in an unexpected and interactive way. Relying on the repetition of a basic, timeless tapered shape that reinforces the simplicity and approachability of the design, the pieces feature an oversized dial button that invites people to interact and be even more engaged.

The intent of Craft System™ is also to illustrate how small independent furniture companies like UM Project can turn their limited and specialized production capabilities into an advantage by enabling the manufacturing of market-ready series and one-off pieces at the same time. Those two sides were presented in two complementary venues: at ICFF with the new Atum lamp targeted towards trade and retail, and at Wanted Design through a series of fifteen unique units.

Atum Lamp

A classic shape revisited and brought to life through sleek materials, techy details and friendly moments. The lamp can be used as a side lamp, a desk lamp, or a floor lamp when mounted on the wooden base.
