Global Design Firm Draws Inspiration from the Modernity of the West and the Mystery of the East for the Ultimate in Indulgence and Relaxation. New York, NY — HBA / Hirsch Bedner Associates, the leading global hospitality design firm of the world’s most anticipated hotels, resorts and spas,has completed the design of the ESPA located in the groundbreaking Istanbul EDITION hotel. The Istanbul EDITION strives to provide guests with unique experiences and has allowed The Gallery, HBA’s London studio to be creative and expressive with their design resulting in a memorable and incomparable space.

With the ESPA, HBA London designed a contemporary, state-of-the-art spa with design influences drawn from Turkish tradition and local customs. The indulgent and breathtaking spa incorporates beauty, health and wellness that are both social and the ultimate in luxury.

Spread over three floors, this extraordinary 20,000 square foot spa is truly spectacular with dark and sumptuous lighting, rich metallic woods, embossed bronze floors, sumptuous seating and walls upholstered in exquisite horsehair. Crystals are also delicately integrated into the spa design. The combination of these unique design elements help to create the perfect space to lose oneself and forget the stresses and strains of the outside world.

According to Nathan Hutchins, Associate HBA London, “The ESPA at the IstanbulEdition journey is one of comfort, glamour and alluring charm featuring mysterious spaces to relax and rejuvenate. Inspiration for the spa’s design was taken from the faceted cut out patterns found in a traditional Hammam to create a subtle yet atmospheric feeling using light and dark.”

“The play of light was the other main component in the design inspiration, creating shadows and shafts of light in unexpected spaces,” says Inge Moore, Principal. “These concepts married with a rich selection of materials and rich wall paneling creates luxurious, alluring, opulent spaces that make the guest feel both indulged and protected…our aim was to design a spa that creates an unforgettable experience.”

The Hammam, a truly focal and grand tradition to a Turkish Spa becomes an intimate and exclusive haven at the ESPA. Opulent chocolate brown marble and cast bronze sinks create a deep sense of calm and warmth throughout the Hammam, with scrub and steam rooms to soothe the mind and cleanse the body.

A comprehensive menu of beauty and health treatments is offered in the multiple treatment rooms, which include a VIP suite decorated with patterned leather floors and smoked onyx walls where couples can unwind in the oversize bathtub, steam shower and unique relaxation bed suspended from the ceiling. A stunning pool and a state-of-the-art fitness center completes this extraordinary experience.
