A UNIQUE HISTORY
Tin was discovered in central Phuket hundreds of years ago, quickly becoming an integral part of the island’s commerce and trade. The value of this “black gold” was so great that tin was considered a form of currency until as late as 1932.
Phuket’s success as a tin mining centre and the island’s subsequent wealth were in part due to the Na-Ranong family: one of the founding fathers of both the Na-Ranong clan and Phuket’s flourishing economy, Khaw Sim Bee, played so integral a role in the island’s development that King Chulalongkorn awarded him the royal title of ‘Phraya Rasada Nupradit’. Today a commanding statue of him sits atop Khao Rang overlooking the town, a testament to his leadership and vision.
Intrigued by and in tribute to his ancestry, Wichit Na-Ranong, owner and Managing Director of Indigo Pearl, used tin mining as a unique and personal source of inspiration in the creation of the resort.
Today there are only three tin mining sites still active in Phuket. Few of the island’s inhabitants know about their rich industrial past. Indigo Pearl is a striking, poetic reminder – of raw beauty, of vision, of a rich, bygone era.
Set against a backdrop of dense rainforest filled with rare wildlife, Indigo Pearl unfolds along Phuket’s sheltered northern shore – a beachfront property of golden sand and uninterrupted views of the Andaman Sea. Dozens of islands lie scattered off the coast.
Indigo Pearl features 3 swimming pools. A sumptuous family pool with an exclusive non smoking children’s pool section, and 2 adults only infinity pools.
Enveloping luxury and warmth. The rawness of timber and brass rivets juxtaposed with the soothing sway of palms and exotic flora.
To each his own: Select from an array of accommodation options. The privacy of a pool villa, a unique tropical cocoon, industrial design perfectly fused with soft richness. The Pearl Shell Suites – each unique in design, a bold statement filled with personality. The ultimate luxury – the Bensley Suite – an homage to renowned Bill Bensley design, with unique art pieces framing a private pool, nestled within a lush paradise.
Unique Thai delicacies a riot of flavours served in a modern masterpiece floating on the lagoon. Relaxation, a selection of rare malts in an ambience of post-modern design. Iconic Sunday Brunch, Fresh seafood, tender grilled cuts, exotic cocktails and New World wines – all in unique settings of architectural marvel, visionary design and hypnotic surrounds.
The freedom to let loose, to explore, to discover. Take advantage of both the resort’s facilities, including three unique pools, and those of nature, with its glittering waters, tropical jungles and the treasures of the depths of the ocean. Tee off on one of the island’s award-winning golf greens just minutes from the resort. Take advantage of the resort’s diving facilities and the riches of the Andaman.
