A UNIQUE HISTORY

Tin was discovered in central Phuket hundreds of years ago, quickly becoming an integral part of the island’s commerce and trade. The value of this “black gold” was so great that tin was considered a form of currency until as late as 1932.

Phuket’s success as a tin mining centre and the island’s subsequent wealth were in part due to the Na-Ranong family: one of the founding fathers of both the Na-Ranong clan and Phuket’s flourishing economy, Khaw Sim Bee, played so integral a role in the island’s development that King Chulalongkorn awarded him the royal title of ‘Phraya Rasada Nupradit’. Today a commanding statue of him sits atop Khao Rang overlooking the town, a testament to his leadership and vision.

Intrigued by and in tribute to his ancestry, Wichit Na-Ranong, owner and Managing Director of Indigo Pearl, used tin mining as a unique and personal source of inspiration in the creation of the resort.

Today there are only three tin mining sites still active in Phuket. Few of the island’s inhabitants know about their rich industrial past. Indigo Pearl is a striking, poetic reminder – of raw beauty, of vision, of a rich, bygone era.

Hotel in Luxury

Luxury of Privacy:
Sumptuous and secluded, each of the seven Private Pool Villas is set within a walled garden, offering spacious indoor and outdoor accommodation. Ranging in size from 550 to 2,500 sqm, each villa comprises of two bungalows – one is a dedicated sleeping zone and the other a living space – as well as a private, individually designed swimming pool. The living pavilion features a lounge, dining area and boutique-size spa, complete with massage beds, steam showers and sauna. A large decking area extends to a BBQ, merging the inside and outside spaces.

Luxury in Individuality:
The décor of the villas follows a black and grey theme, inspired by Phuket’s strong industrial heritage. Design homage is paid to the area’s ‘black gold’ past through the use of bold lighting, polished metal, exposed beams and riveted furnishings. Whilst following this aesthetic, each villa is individually designed; the simplistic colour palette allowing for a world of textures to be explored in each space.

The three Pleasure-seeker Residences can be inter-connected opening up a three pool, four-bedroom suite perfect for large family gatherings or, as an exclusive party venue. At 2,500 sqm, this is not only the largest villa on the island; it is also the most exclusive and a much-desired address.

Luxury in Service:
Private villa guests are extended full VIP treatment at the airport and at the hotel – this includes arrival and departure immigration and baggage fast tracking, airport transfers, use of the Coral Executive Airport Lounge, porter service and 24-hour butler.
