Living Sails
They are designed so as to reflect upon the original function of the sail and they are inspired by sailing techniques, the way the boats are constructed and the poetry of the sea itself.
TRIMMER
The chair consists of three materials: bent iron tubing, recovered sail and rope. The tube draws a silhouette of three feet and three supports for the piece of sail that remains perfectly adjusted to the structure through the tension of the ropes.
VAURIEN
Lounger comprised of an outer cover of recovered sail, fibre glass batten frame and inner foam filling. Its peculiar shape make it very comfortable as the curve of its vertex acts as support for the head It also provides shade and protection from the wind.
BARLOVENTO-SOTAVENTO
Lounger & Easy chair comprised of a circular section structure made of aluminium, and sail fabric that is wrapped around the structure. Its design, with its simple undulating lines, permits its dual use, as a lounger or as an easy chair depending on how it is placed on the floor.
B&S ELONDO
Lounger & Easy chair comprised of a circular section structure made of wood, and sail fabric that is wrapped around the structure. Its design, with its simple undulating lines, permits its dual use, as a lounger or as an easy chair depending on how it is placed on the floor.
GÉNOIS
Armchair pouf made with recovered sail fabric. The fabric becomes tense when the seat is used and the back acquires rigidity, adapting perfectly to the body, making it extremely comfortable.
GÉNOIS CHESLÓN
The logical evolution of a Génois leads to the extension of the bottom to allow the legs extended and transformed into a comfortable couch. As in Génois, when we lie down the fabric in tension adapts perfectly to the shape of our body.
Concept
Dvelas is an initiative involving the recovery of used sails applied to the design and production of contemporary furniture inspired by the rigging techniques of sailing boats.
Initiative to recover used sails and transform them, applied to design, textile architecture and contemporary furniture.
With use, ship sails become deteriorated, which makes them useless for exact navigation. However, the materials still have excellent qualities.
Our aim is to recover used sales that already have their own past history, to give them a new life through design and art. All our designs are inspired by observing sailing techniques, nautical construction and the poetry of the sea itself, a conceptual component being essential in all of them, to merge all of this together.
