Spanish designer Silvia Cenal Idarreta’s Macaron Lamp draws inspiration from the sweet meringue-based confection Macaron. Macaron Plywood Lamp is compounded by two pieces made of barnished fir plywood joined by a polypropylene cord. The canopy is made of white plastic.
“I think that the challenge of this lamp is to see how we can design great things with common materials. Macaron lamp started thinking about it when I discovered everything that could be done with fabrics and laces. I wanted to mix wood and a simple lace. And in turn, was fascinated by the traditional French pastry called macaron. And so I began to sketch, to get the lamp to breathe initial ideas.” – Silvia Ceñal Idarreta
Silvia Ceñal Idarreta:
Inspired by a sweet meringue-based confection made with simple ingredients like eggs, icing sugar, granulated sugar and almond powder. However, making the perfect sweet is not an easy task.
Macaron lamp follows the same idea; combining simple materials with the right proportions, in order to get a lamp with personality. Wood conveys us warmth and strength. along with the cord which links between the two pieces of wood, giving a touch of originality with its texture and color. It happens quite the same when it comes the macaron with different flavors combining perfectly in it.
