officeTwelve have been working in partnership to create the first permanent high street standalone location. The two storey site will feature zoned areas to include the Virgin Holidays, Hip Hotels and Cruise brands.

Established in 1985, the Virgin Holidays brand was initially created to sell seats on Virgin Atlantic routes. The company has grown to become one of the largest and most successful long-haul scheduled tour operators in the UK.

Kensington High Street is one of London’s most popular shopping streets with upmarket shops serving an affluent area. The key location is a stone’s throw away from the Kensington Roof Gardens which has been owned by Richard Branson’s Virgin since 1981.
officeTwelve have been a strategic design partner to Virgin Holidays since 2007 and created the retail concept to include permanent and pop-up stores. The brand now has in the region of 90 concessions within Supermarket and High Street department stores.

The design concept reflects Virgin Holidays’ style of holiday offer, exciting and unique with magic touches. As the customer enters the store they are greeted by a wall of red hands offering brochures. These also act as triggers for the iPads. Hold the device up to any brochure and see it come to life with movies of the resorts where the customer is transported into simulated holiday experience.

As you move through the space a band of screens and digital picture frames call out more moving images, encouraging you down to the basement where you enter a retro gaming area designed to keep youngsters busy whilst parents talk to the highly trained advisors. Faux windows play almost still movies of exotic vistas giving the impression that they are just the other side of the glass…as if you are there on some desert island watching the waves lap against white sands. The digital experience continues with a multi screen experience area and iPad bar where holiday destinations can be browsed. The overall concept reflects elements of the existing retail estate but with a twist.

officeTwelve designed the flagship store for Virgin Holidays to not only showcase the varied holiday offering, but to also complement whilst simultaneously showcasing the personality of the Virgin Holidays brand.
