VorteXX Chandelier

The Vortex Chandelier is in line with the series of furniture pieces, which is also a collaboration of Designers Zaha Hadid, Patrik Schumacher and Sawaya & Moroni. The Chandelier’s Opaque surface etches two transparent acrylic light spirals and a recessed LED light strip provides animated and programmable light sensations.

Its impressive shape reflects a vision of an endless ribbon of light. Its appealingly curved contours are reminiscent of a double helix with the appearance of an endless flowing shape – weightless, pulsating and gleaming. This impression is especially accentuated by dynamic lighting and lively luminosity. The light colour of the chandelier constantly changes almost imperceptibly. From red through yellow to blue – a fascinating interplay of colours that creates spatial excitement and constantly draws the viewer’s gaze.

This 2 m high 1.5 m wide light corpus is made up of over 60 individual mouldings that fit together seamlessly in a 12 m long string. The chandelier can be attached flush to the ceiling thanks to a special suspension assembly. Its high-gloss fibreglass-reinforced polyester surface has a precise-fitting translucent acrylic glass cover to ensure uniform light distribution and optimum colour mixing. Precise colour matching enables the very latest generation of LED modules to generate indirect light in various hues. When used in combination with Zumtobel’s lighting management system, an infinite variety of lighting scenes can be controlled and programmed.

Emerging from the base of the chandelier, a blazing bright line of directly radiated light punctuates the shining interplay of colours. this line follows the spiral shaped design of the chandelier and emphasises its elegant flowing form impressively. This consonance of vivacious styling, sensuously coloured and bright white light allows VorteXX to project harmonious lighting scenes into its surrounding area and exert a sustainable influence on the emotional well-being of all those who see it.

VorteXX is part of the Zumtobel Lighteriors masterpieces range and is produced to order as a custom made item. Every chandelier is signed by hand and comes with its own certificate.

The Vortexx chandelier is manufactured by hand in a limited edition of 25. It is offered for sale through art galleries and auction houses. At an auction in the London auction house of Phillips de Pury, for instance, the chandelier recently fetched a record price of nearly € 200,000.- plus auction fee.
